Moving Overseas
TV Broadcaster
June 2006:
I had six life coaching sessions with Melissa begining in November
2004. On average we met about every two weeks. The theme for our
sessions was exploring the possibilities to work abroad in the
USA, Asia or South Africa. I was initially quite cynical about
the life coaching process because I am already a relatively positive
and driven person, but I have now changed my view because the
life coaching sessions did benefit me. The process made me think
a lot more laterally about the options available to me regarding
what to do and where to go. The whole process also provided me
with a structure for my thoughts and a helping hand towards achieving
my goal and working abroad. The sessions were both professional
and relaxed, which I though was important and they were kept quite
structured when it might have been easy for them to degenerate
into chat. Melissa provided a summary of actions for me to pursue
after each session, which was good. It was a way of providing
a gentle weekly reminder of what I had agreed to do. Melissa listed
my actions in the form of a task list, which was easy for me to
work through.
When we began our sessions in November 2004, my goal was to be
living and working abroad by November 2005. In fact, I achieved
my goal well within that timeframe and was living and working
in the Middle East within nine months. Although I am confident
I would ultimately have achieved this goal without life coaching
sessions, I know that I achieved it much more quickly as a result
of my structured sessions with Melissa
